CyberKnife Radiosurgery
CyberKnife radiosurgery is a painless radiation treatment that can be an alternative to open surgery in many cases. The Radiation Oncology Institute is the only center in the Palm Beach, Martin and Broward Counties to offer this procedure on campus. The CyberKnife system uses image guided robotics to precisely and non-invasively destroy tumors and other lesions with multiple beams of high-energy radiation. Each individual beam is not sufficient to cause harm, but the cumulative effect of all the beams at the target results in the lesion receiving a very high dose of radiation while preserving nearby normal tissue.
CyberKnife radiosurgery, with sub-millimeter accuracy, is so precise that radiation can be matched to the shape of small, complex tumors located near critical structures. This ability allows the CyberKnife to treat many lesions that may be considered inoperable or untreatable with other radiosurgery systems – giving many patients new hope.
What Makes CyberKnife Unique?
Candidacy for CyberKnife Treatment
Medical necessity can be determined by a physician or specialist after evaluating your condition. The CyberKnife is a unique modality, and as such, only a CyberKnife trained physician can best determine if it is an appropriate treatment for your particular condition. Our experienced CyberKnife physicians can offer the best advice and discuss treatment options with you.
