Staff Biography

Dr. Lewis attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she received her undergraduate degree in Biology and a Masters degree in Public Health specializing in Health Physics/Radiation Safety. After receiving her first, graduate degree, Dr. Lewis interned at the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Office of Cancer Communications at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, and also conducted research in the NCI’s Laboratory of Mathematical Biology and the Biological Modifier Response program in Frederick, Maryland. She left the National Institutes of Health to attend Wayne State University Medical School in Detroit, Michigan and graduated near the top of her class.
Dr. Lewis completed a one-year transitional internship at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan where she served as Chief Resident, and four years of residency in radiation oncology at Harvard University/Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Her residency also included training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana Farber, Boston Children’s Hospital, and Boston University Medical Center. She has written a number of articles published in peer review journals and lectured on a wide variety of cancer-related topics. She has been featured on both television and radio programs discussing her expertise in CyberKnife and Radiation Therapy.

Dr. Lewis has been board-certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology since 1996 and is member of numerous medical societies including the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the Florida Medical Association and the Palm Beach Medical Society. She serves as a board member for the Cancer Alliance of Health and Hope, and the American Cancer Society’s North Palm Beach division. She previously was on the board of the American Cancer Society’s West Palm Beach unit for many years and was appointed the Medical Advisor on the Executive Board. She co-chaired the Institutional Review Board at St. Mary’s Medical Center for 10 years.

Dr. Lewis served on the Grant Review Panel for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in 2006-2007. She was featured in a segment of the television program, “The South Florida Business Report”, in 2007, and was interviewed and featured on “Leaders in Medicine” talk show on 100.3 FM radio.
Dr. Lewis is the current Chief of Radiation Oncology at Good Samaritan Medical Center and was the only Radiation Oncologist in Palm Beach County to specialize in Stereotactic Gamma Knife Radiosurgery treating brain tumors for many years. She is a long-standing member of the Cancer Committee at Good Samaritan Medical Center. She holds staff privileges at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Palms West Hospital, Columbia Hospital, and JFK Medical Center.

Dr. Lewis has extensive experience performing brachytherapy procedures including MammoSite, High Dose Rate (HDR) therapy for prostate, sarcoma and gynecologic malignancies. She also specializes in Stereotactic Radiosurgery using the state of the art CyberKnife.
